COMMUNITY.......
I'm looking you right in the eye......  What does community mean to you?  How important is community to you?  How do you feel when you are with people in your community?

Here are a few thoughts or descriptions of community....
** Community is where you feel united.
** Community give you a sense of belonging.
** Community gives you fun, support, and diversity.
** Community is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

The Woolwrights 2024 Challenge
Use your creativeness and design a "community" mat.  The mat may be roughly 12" x 12", 6" x 18", or 12" x 14".  You may draw your own design or you can use the designs that will follow.
You may join this challenge when you donate 1/8th yard of wool that will be added to a beautiful basket of wool and given to the winner of the
"Community" design.

If you enter the challenge and donate 1/8th yard of wool, you will also receive $10.00 in Vendor Bucks to use with any of our vendors only on the day of the hook-in.

There will be a "community" vote by each registrant to choose the big winner.
Below are examples of designs that you may use or you may design your own:
THE BEST RUG SHOW EAST OF THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER!!!!
The Woolwrights always pride ourselves and you for the fantastic rug show we hold during our hook-ins.  Bring  the gorgeous rugs to share with everyone.
Rug labels will be available for the rug title, hooker, and the designer at the rug registration table.

ButtonMoon with Nancy Bossio
Picture
Hi, I'm Nancy Bossio, the founder of ButtonMoon. My career in the New York Garment Center schooled in me an appreciation of beautiful fabrics and useful design. As a beginner rug hooker, I could be seen carrying bags of wool, many bags of wool, as well as my cutter into an event. Out of this came the Worm Wrap, a double row of adjustable snap tape system that could hold the work for the day.
Who hasn't rolled up your rug and tucked it under your arm as you struggled to get everything to the car? Hence, the Rug Carrier!
Of course, I make frame covers in everything from wide wale corduroy to recycled denim from size XS to XL and then 1X-3X for floor frames.
Scissors in the garment business are expensive and treated carefully. They are the tools of your trade.  In rug hooking, we have specialized scissors.  For them, I have developed the Scissor Sak which is made from vintage patterned wool in a patchwork effect that come in 5 sizes, 5" to 12".

Through ButtonMoon, my passion for fabrics and problem-solving has found its niche in the rug hooking community. I'm thrilled to continue creating innovative solutions that merge functionality, style, and sustainability, catering to fellow enthusiasts' needs.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!"

 New for Woolwrights Hook-in, 2024:
Something new this year at our booth at Woolwrights. All cut yardage will be ‘Pay by the Pound’. No individual priced pieces (think deli counter). Pick your pieces and make a pile,
then put your pile on the scale at checkout. We are moving to the ‘Pay by the Pound’ model to eliminate having to measure and price the many pieces of various sizes of the several hundred items we bring each year to the hook-in. Using weight, our customers will actually have a pricing advantage because most items weigh 14 oz to 16 oz per yard. In addition to all the “By the Pound’ off-the-bolt wool we will continue to have individual priced curated bundles, separately priced Washed and Rolled half yards, and ready to use Treasure Pieces.

Welcome Spring 2024!!!   We again will have a large selection of luscious hand-dyed wools (and new colors dyed over new base wools), one-of-a-kind spot, and sparkle dyes as well as other dyeing methods like shibori.   We continue to strive to have a full range of colors from the richest and deepest primitive palette to pastels – in between are those marvelous brights – and… our varied palette of color includes wools based upon the subtle colors of Roseville Pottery, fraktur art,  and redware pottery.   Have fun rummaging through the wool packages (which may include a variety of hand-dyed wools and some mixed packages with hand-dyed and as-is wools)!   Full 1 yard and ½ yard pieces of dyed wool (they show the true effect of the mottling) will be available – great for backgrounds or large areas of applique.   Don’t forget our pattern selection (some of which are adaptations of antique rugs owned by The Wool’n Gardener).  We are also honored to exclusively offer 65+ patterns designed by Therese Shick!!!
