WOOLWRIGHTS 2026
April Meeting Our annual election of officers was held during our April Meeting. Kelle Stork was elected to her second term as President and Marsha Shirk was elected to her second term as Vice President. We certainly appreciate the time and effort that Kelle and Marsha put into their first term and thank them for being willing to take on the responsibilities of a second term. Also a tremendous thank you goes to Jean Kelly who served in the role of Vice President for the last two years..
April and May In both April and May, The Woolwrights worked in collaboration with Landis Valley Museum to present to Workshops on Traditional Rug Hooking. Thanks to Sue Copenhaver for putting together such a GREAT overview class which introduces the basic tools, equipment, backing, supplies and techniques used in rug hooking. Each student is given the opportunity to create a mug rug or a sampler to take home. The students stayed busy throughout the day learning and creating. Member volunteers worked with students on technique and providing encouragement when needed.
February For the Health of It!
During our February we some simple things we can do make our hooking experience better. Cindy Irwin demonstrated some great exercises that can keep our bodies happy and healthy before, during and after hooking! Kelle then reminded us of the importance good lighting while we hook. She showed her neck light that portable and really allows the hooker to have a great personal source of light no matter venue.

January Happy New Year!
We welcomed our ATHA Regional Representative, Elaina West to the meeting. Elaina wears many hats in the rug hooking world. We are so glad she was able to attend our meeting. Connie Bateman presented a demonstration on copying a pattern to a foundation. Copywriting rules, enlarging a pattern, crack stop, red dot, septic filter paper, types of foundation, adding inches to the pattern, squaring by pencil in the ditch, pulling one fiber for cutting line, black Sharpie, surging the edge of the pattern were all discussed. I think everyone in the group learned something new.
