THE WOOLWRIGHTS ARE BACK.....
We worked hard during this past year. We planned. We did not what or how our plans would come together. We had missed three years of our yearly hook-in. Our lives had changed with covid. We lost dear friends that always brought sunlight into our lives and they would not be here to come together with us. We had all new officers for our board and we had members who had never been to a hook-in. There were those of us who had worked on planning and putting together our spring hook-ins for years and we needed volunteers to help us and hear our tried and true experiences that had made all of our previous hook-ins so successful and an absolute joy!!
We were not sure if people were ready to come to Lancaster County. We missed seeing all our friends and our vendors who have always and forever been so supportive of The Woolwrights. We had so many discussions about ways to draw our friends back and we wanted to make this this a day to remember and leave us with memories that would stay forever.
Well, you know what.........We did it!!! The Woolwrights came back in blazing colors and you all came home to be with us once again.... Our wonderful vendors who supported us all through covid came from near and far. They were happy to be here and it was wonderful to see them. We had set our registration number at 200 and all spots were filled. We had many people come as walk-ins just to see what we do, to admire our work, and to shop with the vendors.

A VERY SPECIAL TIME
FOR REMEMBRANCE.......
FOR REMEMBRANCE.......
Since our last hook-in in 2019, The Woolwrights have dealt with the loss of our dear friends and members. Our hearts have been broken and we will always miss these wonderful people that meant so much to all of us. Cindy Irwin spoke for all of us in expressing our heartfelt memories and little words of wisdom that our friends shared with us over the years. To our friends..... Marion Sachs, Judy Carter, Joan Garner, Jim Bewley, Anne Stevens, Barb Carroll, and Norma Batastini.....

CAN YOU FIND YOURSELF, YOUR RUG, OR YOUR FRIENDS HERE?
THE "FROLICKING FLOCK" CHALLENGE
Way back in 2020, Artist Michelle Palmer gave The Woolwrights permission to use her pattern for a challenge rug for our 2020 Woolwrights Annual Spring Hook-In. Of course, because of covid, our hook-in was cancelled and it was very disappointing, but we were so happy in 2023 when Michelle once again extended her support to The Woolwrights and let us know we could use her pattern again and offer it for the "Frolicking Flock" Rug Challenge. We informed our registrants that if they wanted to join all the ladies in the hen house that we could make the pattern available to them or they could find the free pattern in the January/February 2020 issue of Rug Hooking Magazine. Every participant would also donate a piece of wool that would be added to a shopping bag and whoever won the most votes from our entire group of registrants would take home the honor of "The Top Chick of the Henhouse" and the bag of beautiful wool.

"Glinda" Thee Witch
Thee henhouse challenge rug was done for my love of chickens since I have had a flock of chickens for 30 years and because of my interest in witches since I was a little girl. The wool is mostly hand-dyed to get the "molted" look. The spiders, bats, cat, and crystal are needful things for a witch. Her broom was made from the shavings of kindling in chestnut logs laying by the keeping room fireplace where I hook.

Note: Linda is a Woolwrights member and could not attend because she had just had shoulder surgery a couple of days before. Speedy recovery so we can see you again and you can begin hooking again.
A COUPLE OF OUR RAFFLE WINNERS....... And thank you to The Woolwrights members and our vendors who made our raffle so successful and plentiful for our winners!
This was another successful and exciting Woolwrights Annual Spring Hook-In. We enjoyed seeing everyone and sharing memories of our friends and we hope you made special memories and even made new friends too!! We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
We have to thank our ever supporting vendors for their participation throughout the year and every year at our hook-in. A special thank you to The Carter Family for being a part of our day and once again sharing Judy's rugs with us. We send out a thank you Hess' Barbecue from Willow Street for their support of us and supplying the best box lunches we have ever had. There has to be a big thank you to The Farm & Home Center to allowing us to use their great facility over the years and to hold our spot through tough times when we had to cancel our events.
And last, but not least......Thank you to all our Woolwrights members who come together always to make The Woolwrights Annual Hook-In a wonderful day!!
