HOOK-IN AT HAGLEY MUSEUM
September 19, 2015 - Today, the Hagley Museum and Library held their first hook-in in the Soda House on the original estate of the DuPont family. Seventy hookers joined together on the grounds and were given an outstanding tour of the newly renovated DuPont home. We walked through beautiful gardens and the home tour was wonderful with a special exhibition of a collection of antique hooked rugs from the 1800's. We heard the history of the home and the furnishings. While some were on the tour, others were in the Soda House shopping with the great vendors, hooking, and visiting with friends. It was a great day! Thank you to Hagley Museum for planning this event and making all of us feel so at home.

JULY 18, 2015 - We all packed up our frames, projects we were working on, and our completed rugs and traveled with friends or spouses to Wilmington, Delaware, this warm, humid Saturday morning. We had a nice group of 13 hookers from the Woolwrights and Brandywine Guilds and friends of our member, Susanne, from Harrisburg. I think the people from the Hagley Museum were a little surprised to see all of the equipment, bags, carts, etc. that travel with rug hookers. Chairs and tables were set up for us to spread out the supplies needed. It was a great day! There were over 260 "casual visitors" that attended the Fantastic Fibers Event at Hagley. We even had some of our own members visit to see us and old friends came to visit some of our hookers. People of all ages came through and were very interested in seeing what we do, asked questions, and many tried hooking on the community rug that Hagley had set up for them to try. We may have even made some new converts to rug hooking. A wonderful lunch was provided for us from the Belin House. We are all looking forward to returning to The Hagley Museum on September 19, 2015, for the first hook-in at Hagley.
May 12, 2015 - With a gorgeous spring day to travel through the country and over the hillsides, ten members from the Woolwrights, made the short trek to the Hagley Museum. We were offered this opportunity by the Hagley Museum and we had a wonderful time on the tour. We started, of course, with seeing the rug hooked by Nancy du Pont Reynolds Cooch to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the du Pont family coming to the America in 1800. We were shown the gunpowder mills, the machine shop, the first office of the du Pont family, the barn, and the home of the du Pont family, and, of course, collections from each of these buildings. We look forward to participating in future events with Hagley and plans are in the works to bring our family members so they can share the experience of the Hagley Museum.
