***MARION SACHS***
During the month of February in 2023, the Woolwrights Rug Hooking Guild and friends from all over the world lost a dear friend, Marion Sachs. The loss of Marion has left us with a sadness in our hearts with wonderful memories of an incredible artist, a mentor, and a teacher. We all learned so much from Marion just by being in her presence at our meetings and at any workshop she would attend. Marion received many accolades over the years for her creativeness and talent of which is not always easy to find. She had been recognized at state fairs, at Sauder Village, and in Rug Hooking Magazine, Celebrations, and also the ATHA magazine. We will all miss this beautiful, little lady that brought such joy and laughter to all of us.
*** ANNE STEVENS ***
Before Christmas, December 2021, the Woolwrights lost one of our founding members. Anne was so interesting and had great stories to tell and it was like she was painting a picture for you. She was kind, honest, and had a wonderful boisterous laugh. She was so creative and was willing to share ideas with each of us. Anne was welcoming to everyone and she always had time to listen and listen with her heart. We were invited to her home on many occasions for little workshops and picnics and she and Bob made us all so comfortable in their home even giving us tours of their gardens in the backyard.
Anne worked timeless hours on the 2011 ATHA Biennial in Lancaster. She handled all the registrations and worked at the biennial and always with a smile.
If it had not been for Anne, there may not have been the Woolwrights. We did not have enough time with Anne and we will all miss her.
(Note: When the last two photos were taken, I asked her to show her rug she had hooked and it was for one of the Amish children across the street from her home. She did not realize it was upside down and we had a good laugh about it and this is how I will always remember Anne!)

June 10, 2022 - This Kousa dogwood tree was donated by The Woolwrights in memory of Anne Stevens in the gardens at St. Edward's Episcopal Church, Lancaster, PA.
*** JIM BEWLEY ***
In November of 2021, we lost our friend, Jim. Jim was a very soft spoken man who always had a smile on his face. He was a wonderful rug hooker and enjoyed sharing his designs and finished rugs with a story. He was always fun to talk to and would enjoy talking about his wife, Paula, and trips to New York to visit their son and their beautiful granddaughter. Jim was a Viet Nam veteran. He loved restoring cars and his woodworking artistry was beautiful. Several years ago, Jim was asked to create miniature birdhouses for Longwood Gardens. He shared his work with us and even had a stand at The Woolwrights' yearly hook-in. Jim and Paula were always so supportive of the Woolwrights and participated in rug hooking demonstrations and for years, Jim was our registrar for the hook-ins, handling hundreds of registration forms all by hand. Jim was even a Woolwrights officer from 2012-2014.
Jim, we will miss you and your lovely stories and that big smile!

*** Judy Carter ***
The rug hooking community lost Judy Carter in July of 2021. The Woolwrights were so proud to have had Judy as a fellow member. She was loved all over the country. Judy had incredible workshops and people came from all over to attend her workshops and to be taught the techniques that she had learned over the years. Judy was a McGown certified teacher. She was a great speaker and the Woolwrights were blessed to have Judy with all of her works of art in February of 2020. She was kind, loving, gave great hugs, and told stories of her adventures traveling and the story of how her rugs came about.
Judy loved to tell us about her parents, her husband and their son and daughter-in-law, and two beautiful little grandchildren. She gave all of us inspiration through her story of courage and faith. Judy, dear friend, you will always be in our hearts.

*** HELEN HEISERMAN ***
Helen had a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes that couldn't be beat. She was always upbeat and happy even though she might be going through a tough time. We all enjoyed seeing Helen walk through the door and tell of us her adventures in Florida with her daughter. She had a wonderful laugh and was always interested in hearing about everyone else and what was going on their life. Helen will certainly be missed by not only her family, but each and everyone of us in the Woolwrights. - August 2013.
*** JUDY KELIUS ***
Judy was a sweet and gentle soul. She was soft spoken, always willing to explain how she hooked or designed a rug, and ready to help you with any questions you may have. Judy was the first webmaster for the Woolwright's website. We will all miss seeing Judy come in with her smile and beautiful rugs. - April 2013
