2023 MERRY CHRISTMAS
FROM THE WOOLWRIGHTS
FROM THE WOOLWRIGHTS
December 8, 2023 - The day before we had a little snow, but this day was like a spring day. The Woolwrights met for the last time in 2023 and it was a good day!! We had a Christmas celebration with games, great food, a wonderful rug show, and, of course, a fantastic array of current rugs and projects that are being worked on. It was nice to see all our friends and wish everyone the best of the holidays and New Year to follow.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!!
May 12, 2023 - Today, was a great day for The Woolwrights. We had a group larger than we have had for a while and one of our past presidents, Sarah, gave us an enlightening lesson today of colors and values. Part of Sarah's history was her choice of going to nursing school, getting a very important job in the medical field so she could afford to continue her education, and then going back to college to study the field she was always interested in, art! Sarah brought quite a few of her rugs to our meeting and explained the process of choosing colors, lights, and darks and even giving the thought to nature and the lighting in your room when planning your rug. Thank you, Sarah.
We were also able to acknowledge our member and friend, Linda, as she was the winner of the rug challenge that we had in March for The Woolwrights Annual Spring Hook-In. Linda was not able to attend the hook-in after shoulder surgery and she won the challenge for "The Frolicking Flock". She is quite a winner as she won the challenge we had at the hook-in before covid. Congratulations, Linda!
So, in celebration of spring and having such a great group together, we had a group photo taken as we had not had a group photo taken since Christmas of 2019. It is always so nice when we can come together and share our stories and be with our friends.

NEXT WEEKEND - THE BIG EVENT
March 10, 2023 - The Woolwrights met today with the chance of a couple of snowflakes falling and a little rain, but mostly just a gray day. We finalized our plans for The Woolwrights Annual Spring Hook-In and we are looking forward to seeing all our friends that we have made over the years. We had a variety of rugs shared today with wide cuts, torn cuts, and fine cuts, an Amish rug, chicks, rugs from a few years ago, and a sample of what a great grandmother can do with a sweet child in just a few moments! There must be something in the genes! What fun it is to get together and have some laughs and good conversation with our friends.
THE HENS ARE COMING TO ROOST......
FEBRUARY 10, 2023
FEBRUARY 10, 2023
February 10, 2023 - What an absolutely beautiful winter day of 55 degrees, it was!! We have had hardly any signs of a snowflake this year and daffodils are springing up all over our yards. The Woolwrights had a great meeting today with friends coming for the day, some we have not seen in a long time! It's wonderful to see our sister hookers once again. We have all missed each other.
Today's meeting included several different things: First of all, there was another hook-in planning committee meeting for the upcoming Woolwrights Annual Spring Hook-In!!! Things are coming together and we are really excited about all we have to look forward to. We have all missed seeing our friends from near and far here in Lancaster. Do not forget that the cut-off day for registering is March 1, 2023. We would love to see you there!!! For more info and registration, look at "Save the Date" here on our website.
Cindy Irwin, our friend and teacher, did a small workshop for our members teaching the art of needle felting on beautiful wool bags to carry your necessary items for hooking. The bags were beautiful and the designs were really pretty! Photos follow below.
And.... the third thing I think you will enjoy seeing are a few of our chicken rugs from the "Frolicking Flock" challenge for the hook-in. Several Woolwrights members were working on their hens today, some are waiting at home, and some have not even hatched yet. The word is that there have been many patterns requested for the challenge. But.... we hope you enjoy seeing a few of our hens and thanks again to Michelle Palmer for giving The Woolwrights the privilege of using her patterns for the challenge. To see more of Michele's patterns, etc., follow her on Etsy, Facebook, or Instagram.
